Unlike Alibaba, Tencent has so far avoided an antitrust crackdown in China, likely due to it investing in upstarts instead of driving them out of business  —  Tencent's popularity may help it avoid trouble with Beijing.  But its vast power could still squelch innovation in the world's largest online market.
