If you were looking to upgrade to the OnePlus 7 or the 7 Pro for some of the software features packed in Oxygen OS, we say, think again. OnePlus has officially said that some of the software features available on the OnePlus 7 Pro will be making its way to the OnePlus 5, 5T, 6 and 6T smartphones. These include Fnatic More, Zen Mode, Screen Recording, Quick Reply in Landscape, DC dimming and RAM Boost.
Here is a look at the features on offer in some detail. Fnatic Mode is another name for game mode as this focuses on the smartphone's performance to ensure you get smooth gaming experience. This mode blocks distractions like notifications boosts CPU performance and network speed. Zen Mode gives users 20 of smartphone free time. All notifications and apps are rendered unusable for the time with calls and camera being the only exception.
With Screen Recorder, users will be able to record the display without resorting to a third party app. Users can use this to record their gameplay, or simply record their screen for tutorials or make any other video. The recording includes the internal sound. With Quick reply in landscape, users will be able to reply to messages in landscape while watching videos or playing games without having to stop the video or the game.
DC dimming is an alternative method to adjust the screen brightness, by changing the circuit power of the screen. When enabled, it will reduce screen flickers at low brightness, but may lead to abnormal colours being displayed in some cases. OnePlus will introduce this feature in Open Beta builds for the OnePlus 6 and 6T and then evaluate for the OnePlus 5 and 5T.
In the RAM boost mode, as the name suggests, the RAM utilization is increased according to usage. RAM Boost can predict apps you want to launch and data you want to load, thus taking full advantage of the available RAM to speed up your phone's performance. Currently, the OnePlus 6 and 6T have the Smart Boost function and will upgrade to RAM Boost in future updates. OnePlus says that the OnePlus 5 and 5T will also support this feature.
On its official forum, OnePlus has that the Android Q Developer Preview is available for the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 6/6T. It has also assured users that Android Q will make its way to the OnePlus 5 and 5T.
