Tencent releases test version of Game of Thrones smartphone game in China: Report
Highlights Tencent has reportedly launched a test version of a smartphone games based on 'Game of Thrones' The game is called 'Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming' Tencent is the same company that is behind PUBG Mobile It looks like Tencent Holdings, the same guys behind PUBG Mobile, are set to release a new game based on the Game of Thrones show. According to a report by Reuters, the game is titled “Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming” and the company has released a test version of the game in China. The game itself is developed by Chinese developer, Yoozoo. It isn’t yet clear exactly how the gameplay will pan out. According to the report, the game will be a simulation that will allow players to take up the role of popular characters such as Tyrion Lannister and visit notable location in the series such as Castle Black. Further, players will reportedly be able to experience events such as the Red Wedding. It adds that players need to “conquer King’s Landing, capture the Iron Throne, and be the biggest winner in the Game of Thrones.” Of course, this will not be the first (and most likely not the last) game to be based on the Game of Thrones TV show, which in turn is based on the book series, ‘A Song of a Ice and Fire’ by George R. R. Martin. One of the most popular games based on the show is ‘Game of Thrones’ developed by TellTale games. The game was an episodic point and click adventure game wherein players faced a number of choices. These choices may affect certain in-game elements and options. The game is available on almost all consoles, PC, Mac as well as smartphones. Sadly, the developer of the game has since shut down so we will most likely not get another such game. Speaking of Game of Thrones, the final season of the show, Season 8 will be aired this year from April 14, and the trailer is already out. The season will be a culmination of eight years of storytelling and will finally put an end (?) to the long running saga. Mind you, the book series hasn’t ended yet and in fact, there are two books that still have to be launched.
