Vivo S5 with punch-hole display, quad rear cameras launched in China

After teasing it for some time now, Vivo has announced the Vivo S5 at an event in Beijing, China. As revealed in the renders, the successor of the Vivo S1 sports a new design. The Vivo S5 has a punch-hole display upfront with the cut-out placed on the top-right edge and quad rear camera setup in a diamond-shaped module at the back. The phone features a gradient finish.

The Vivo S5 comes equipped with a 6.44-inch OLED display with FullHD+ resolution. The company claims that the Vivo S5 sports a screen-to-body ratio of 91.38 percent. The display is claimed to be certified by the German company TUV Rheinland which specializes in ocular safety. The Vivo S5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset. It comes in two variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.

On the optics front, the Vivo S5 sports a quad rear camera setup in a diamond-shaped module. The three camera sensors, along with a LED flash, are bundled together in the module, while the fourth sensor sits below the module. The camera setup includes a 48MP primary sensor + an 8MP ultra-wide lens + a 5MP depth sensor + a 2MP macro lens. On the front lies a 32MP selfie shooter. 

The Vivo S5 comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor on the front. It runs Funtouch OS 9.2 based on Android 9 Pie. The smartphone packs a 4,010mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging. Connectivity options on the Vivo S5 include VoLTE, WiFi, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port support.

Vivo S5 is priced at 2698 Yuan (roughly Rs 27,650) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, whereas the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant will cost 2998 Yuan that roughly translates to Rs 30,700.

To sum it all up, the Vivo S1 was launched in India and is now available to purchase for Rs 16,990. Hence, the Vivo S5 is expected to arrive in India as well.
